This Saturday kicks off Berlin’s art summer with the opening of the 10th Berlin Biennale. This fall, Berlin will once again focus on contemporary art when Berlin Art Week will take place from 26–30 September 2018.

 

As is true each year, the art fairs art berlin and Positions Berlin will be the focus. This year, both fairs will be held at the former Tempelhof Airport. art berlin will present its galleries in Hangars 5 and 6 (entrance Tempelhofer Damm), Positions Berlin will be held in Hangar 4 (entance Columbiadamm).

Beside the offerings of fair partners, Berlin Art Week’s programme, certainly unique around the world in its diversity and density, will be presented as a joint project of the city’s key art institutions. New participants this year will include the internationally renowned programme series Immersion of the Berliner Festspiele, Gropius Bau and KINDL – Zentrum für Zeitgenössische Kunst.

The partners of Berlin Art Week 2018 are: art berlin, Positions Berlin Art Fair, Akademie der Künste, Berliner Festspiele/Gropius Bau, Berliner Festspiele/Immersion, Berlinische Galerie, C/O Berlin, daadgalerie, Deutsche Bank Art, Culture & Sports, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Haus am Waldsee, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, KINDL – Zentrum für Zeitgenössische Kunst, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, me Collectors Room, Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK), Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) and Schering Stiftung.

Beside extensive solo shows by Agnieszka Polska at Hamburger Bahnhof and the winner of the GASAG Art Prize 2018, Julian Charrière at Berlinische Galerie, visitors can expect performances and artistic intervention at diverse locations across the city. Special attention this year will be directed at photography, with the EMOP Opening Days of the European Month of Photography Berlin. Beyond this, this year once again Berlin Art Week will provide a look at many of the city’s private collections and project spaces.
