The Colby Museum of Art in Waterville, Maine, presents a major exhibition by Alex Katz focussing on his creative period in the 1950s. It was a decade in which he drew inspiration from the portraiture of Édouard Manet studying the relationship between figure and ground, and the one in which he met Ada, his most enduring model.

With sixty-five paintings, cutouts, and collages Brand-New & Terrific: Alex Katz in the 1950s introduces audiences to an overlooked body of work and consider it within the context of the aesthetic commitments of the decade.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a book with a preface from Sharon Corwin and contributions from Katy Siegel, Richard Shiff and Eva Diaz.

Please find further details on the museum´s official website.
